An empty result usually comes down to one of a few common causes — here's what to check before assuming something's broken.
If a name, title, or department search returns nothing, double-check spelling first, then try a broader search — a department name instead of an exact title, or a last name alone instead of a full name. The underlying record only covers current and former Philadelphia city employees whose payroll is part of the public dataset, so someone outside that scope won't appear no matter how the search is phrased.
An address that returns no result is usually a formatting mismatch — try the address without a unit number, or with the street type spelled out (e.g., "Street" instead of "St") if abbreviating didn't work. TaxAssessmentIQ pulls directly from the live OPA record, so the address needs to match how the property is registered with the city.
If you've tried reasonable variations and still get nothing, the property or person may genuinely fall outside what's currently covered — for example, a very recent transaction not yet reflected in the source data, or a role outside the public payroll dataset's scope. See Data Accuracy & Sources for what's covered and how current each feed is.
Reach out through Contact with the exact search you tried — that's the fastest way to tell a formatting issue apart from a genuine data gap.
Usually not — most empty results trace back to spelling, formatting, or a record genuinely outside current coverage rather than a product error.
Try the street number and name without the unit or suffix first — a partial match is often more forgiving than an exact one.
Older records can occasionally use different formatting than current ones — worth trying both if a historical search comes up empty.
